Another Historical Sketch

sketch_1.jpg

The second historical sketch of the Crowning of Drake serves as evidence that Drake arrived at Nova Albion with four ships. This is contrary to most written accounts that only mention The Golden Hinde. One of those four ship was probably a Spanish Galleon named, " La Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion"...also known as the "Cacafuego" which Drake commandeered off the coast of Peru. The sketch also shows several palm trees in the background. Hidden amongst the reeds in a section of the San Rafael Marsh that had been drained and reclaimed, was an unbroken palm leaf stem that had been used by the Miwok as a canoe paddle.
